Initial Research Workshop
A two day workshop will be held be held on June 8-9, 2012 at the Graylyn International Conference Center (www.graylyn.com). The theme of the workshop will be "The Psychology of Character: Preliminary Results," and will coincide with the end of the first year of funded research through the psychology of character RFP. The speakers will be the 12 PIs of projects that were funded in this area. Winners of the other two RFP competitions would have been determined that spring, and their PIs will be required to attend this workshop. Others in attendance will include all the external referees for the RFP judging, the Project Leader, Directors, and staff, Wake Forest faculty and students, and interested academics.
The purpose of the workshop will be threefold: (i) to provide feedback to the psychology PIs on their projects while there is still a year more of research to conduct, (ii) to inform PIs for philosophy and theology projects before they begin their funded work, and (iii) to disseminate preliminary results of new research on the psychology of character.
Final Research Colloquia
A three day colloquia will be held in June of 2013 at the Graylyn International Conference Center (www.graylyn.com). The theme of the workshop will be "Conclusions about Character: Results from Psychology, Philosophy, and Theology," and it will coincide with the end of funded research from all three RFP competitions. The speakers will be the PIs of all 14-20 funded projects. Others in attendance will include all the external referees for the RFP judging, the Project Leader, Directors, and staff, the 15 participants of the Summer Character Seminar, the 9 Character Essay Prize winners, Wake Forest faculty and students, and interested academics.
The purpose of the workshop will be fourfold: (i) to provide feedback to the PIs on their results, (ii) to suggest avenues for future research, (iii) to educate those in attendance about the findings of the research projects, and (iv) to disseminate the findings more broadly.
All PIs will be required to submit a chapter length summary of their central findings for a two volume edited work provisionally entitled The Character Project: New Perspectives in Psychology, Philosophy, and Theology.
